21 Apr 11 2 Ways to Embed MP3 to PowerPoint

Audio is important to a PowerPoint. Adding music or voiceover can greatly enhance the presenting experience. In this post, you will learn 2 ways to embed MP3 to PowerPoint in easy steps.

1. Easily Embed MP3 to PowerPoint in Insert Tab

Some said they can only import WAV file to PowerPoint, but in my PowerPoint 2007, I can directly add MP3 file from Insert > Sound > Sound from File. And it works perfect. But adding MP3 to PowerPoint in this way, you must play PowerPoint on your own computer. The audio won’t play once it’s moved to another computer.

Note if you can’t add MP3 to PowerPoint as described above, first convert MP3 to WAV using following method.

2. Really Embed MP3 to PowerPoint in Animations Tab

The advantage of this method is that the MP3 (in fact, peusdo-wav) will be embedded into PowerPoint in one single file, therefore, you can take PowerPoint anywhere and the audio always do what it’s expected. Below is the detailed steps to embed MP3 to PowerPoint.

1). Convert MP3 to WAV – only labeled as *.wav by changing RIFF header, MP3 characteristics such as audio quality and file size remained. The free audio tool CDex is needed. Download and install CDex, and then go to “Convert > Add RIFF-WAV(s) header to Mp2 or MP3 file(s)”.

2). Add animation in your PowerPoint presentation. In order to embed MP3 into the PowerPoint, it must play with the animation.
3). Go go the Animations tab and click “Custom Animation”, select an element on slide and add effects to it. From the Custom Animation panel on the right, click added effect and select “Effect Options” from the drop-down list.
4). In the pop-up dialog, go to “Sound > Other Sound…” to browse audio files. Select the pseudo-wav and click OK.
5). Now the MP3 has embedded to PowerPoint.

Press F5 to preview PowerPoint and play MP3 in PowerPoint!
